🌎 Opus 4.7 drops and is coming for your wallet

Anthropic released Opus 4.7 and the reactions across the developer ecosystem are mixed. The company claims major gains in agentic coding, long-running tasks, and complex knowledge work.
But it’s also positioned as a “safe middle layer”. More powerful than previous Opus models while intentionally constrained compared to the unreleased Mythos model, which Anthropic warned would destroy the internet last week.
What developer’s are saying…
Many devs took to X stating the new model was delivering disappointing results. Some even saying it’s on par with Opus 4.5, a model two version back. The token usage has also increased, which hits user’s wallets even harder. According to Bill Summers token leaderboard, 4.7 came with a near 37% increase in token usage compared to 4.6.
While it’s still very early, the current sentiment is 4.6 is comparable to 4.7 while also taking less money out of your wallet.
News
OpenAI’s Codex app got a big update, giving it things like image generation, operate your computer for you, and the ability to schedule tasks.
Simon Wilson wrote about the changes in Claude Opus system prompt from 4.6 to 4.7.
Vercel disclosed a security incident involving unauthorized access to internal systems, caused by a compromised third-party AI tool (Context.ai) that allowed attackers to take over an employee’s Google Workspace account and access some environments and non-sensitive variables.
Cloudflare is trying to get a piece of that AI pie as an inference layer for agents. They released single an AI gateway that lets developers access and route between dozens of AI models from different providers, with built-in reliability, logging, and failover.
Anthropic continued their
vibe codingproduct launch spree by releasing Claude Design. Now maybe your apps won’t look like complete crap.
